Early Career Internships
Our internship program reduces barriers for graduates to fully leverage their college education and secure formal employment.
Competition for jobs requiring a higher degree is fierce in Kenya, particularly for women and especially for marginalized groups like the Maasai.
Connections outweigh qualifications; male applicants are disproportionately favored; and, job candidates must often prove themselves in unpaid positions before being hired permanently.
Through our graduate internship program, S.H.E. is assisting graduates to secure professional internships in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. This practical work experience can lead to their first salaried employment opportunity.
Each S.H.E. graduate intern receives:
Up to 6 months of a modest living allowance to assist with expenses
Career counseling and professional development training
Support while conducting a job search
A certificate of completion of a S.H.E. graduate internship
