Our Impact

101

scholarships awarded since 2016.

97%

of matriculating S.H.E. students graduate, compared to approximately 60% across Kenya.

  • Our extraordinary success is due to students’ resilience and perseverance, our funders’ steadfast commitment, and comprehensive support from S.H.E. staff in academia, mental health and well-being, and learning to navigate life. Despite the threat of harmful traditional practices and unrelenting family pressure, these determined young women beat the odds and earn certificates, diplomas or degrees from accredited public and private institutions in Kenya.

70%

of S.H.E. graduates are earning a living.

  • The ultimate marker of success: S.H.E. graduates fully leverage their college education and secure formal employment or start their own business. We support S.H.E. students with enrichment programs on job readiness and career counseling. We celebrate every employment milestone, and applaud graduates who start small businesses that thrive.

  • People in my village believe a girl will never make it in life. But because of S.H.E. we are now educated and empowered and we are going back to the community to transform it. We are mentors. We are role models. We are changemakers!

  • Funding a student from a Safe House changes things for her forever. But it also really changes things for you. Our family had a real relationship with Regina. We’ve become a part of each other’s lives in a way that will outlast any need she has for funding.

  • Education changed my life and I am compelled to help another in the same way. The opportunity to be Faith's sponsor feels like a miracle and fills me with a sense of fulfillment, delight, joy, truth, and rightness! Thank you, S.H.E.!

  • It motivates me to learn that people who have never seen us, people called 'donors', believe in us❣️ It really means everything to us. I'm one of the beneficiaries, and I'm more than grateful for your support 🙏🏾

    Natasha, a S.H.E. student

  • Working for S.H.E. enables me to give back to my community. I have personally been through what the S.H.E. students are going through so I can bring understanding and mentorship to my work. Thank you for allowing me to help so many girls to achieve their goals and realize their dreams!

  • I love Mercy's enthusiasm and optimism, along with her desire to care for her family and improve all of their lives. Being involved in the S.H.E. Fund is the first time that I can truly see my support at work and the personal connection between me and Mercy is invaluable.
