Scholarships for Higher Education

The S.H.E. College Fund helps young Maasai women who escaped the harmful practices of their home villages to pursue higher education.

There is an urgent need for support for these young women, who would otherwise have little choice but to return to their villages and give up on their career dreams.

Through an unique application process that values passion and potential over grades received on standardized tests, new students join S.H.E. every year to pursue the lives they envision.

The scholarships we provide to these young women to attend higher education is at the core of our program.

Kenyan Higher Education Options

Higher education in Kenya offers a multi-tiered system designed to equip students with varying levels of skills and knowledge and prepare them for success in the job market. Students who do well in high school enter college at the degree level. Other students, who received lower grades in high school, progress from one level to the next, often becoming excellent students when given the global support of the S.H.E. program.

  • Since the inception of the scholarship program, S.H.E. students in vocational studies have earned qualifications in diary production, culinary arts, cosmetology, hairdressing, ICT, wildlife management, tourism and hospitality.

  • At the undergraduate level, diploma programs offer more intensive and extensive technical training, often including a focus on developing managerial skills. S.H.E. diploma holders are working in civil engineering, business management, nursing and health sciences, and education.

  • Degree programs represent the highest level of academic study offered by Kenyan universities at the undergraduate level. S.H.E. students who have graduated with degrees enter professions in social work, community health, data science, and business commerce.
